Lumen grows with Viimsi and opens another dental clinic

Lumen Dental Clinic is preparing to open another clinic in Viimsi in January 2018 when the clinic celebrates its 25th birthday. Dental hygiene procedures, which are now provided by a dental hygienist and children’s dental care will remain in the current location – the Viimsi SPA building – but other services will be offered in Viimsi Äritare.

EDA’s position on the maximum prices of dentures

We are forwarding the position of the Estonian Dental Association (EDA).

EDA’s position on the list of prosthetic services and maximum prices

The EDA formed the following position at the council meeting on 29 September 2017.

The Estonian Dental Association deplores the situation where the Estonian Health Insurance Fund is forced, under the political pressure of the Minister of Health, to hastily compile a list of prosthetic services, due to which the competence of the professional association is not utilised in the updating of services.

Dental care benefit – toy of the Social Democrats

Dear people – let’s think together!

On 26 October 2017, an opinion piece by

In the name of a long-lasting smile, Lumen Dental Clinic, which has been operating for 25 years, supports the author of the article because the situation regarding the dental care benefit system and its implementation is disappointing.

A dental hygienist has begun work

Marina Sõõru, a dental hygienist with more than 15 years of experience started work in Lumen Dental Clinic (she is also a resident of Viimsi like many of our other employees).

A dental hygienist appointment includes an examination of the patient’s oral hygiene and recommendations for proper oral and dental hygiene. You will find out which toothpaste, brushing technique, interdental brushes and mouthwash to use.

Dental care is no longer just about repairing cavities

Technological developments are changing everything.

Even the study process of a school child has changed – students sit in a circle in the classroom, they do group work and give presentations, there are debate clubs and field trips are taken abroad, e.g. to the capital city of the country they are currently studying. We can find similar changes in processes and activities every step of the way.

Dentistry is no exception, it is actually at the forefront of change as it is a service that concerns all people.

Lumen celebrated its 25th birthday with the opening of a new dental clinic in Viimsi

Lumen – a community dental clinic – is growing with Viimsi and celebrated its 25th birthday with the opening of a new clinic on 8 February 2018. In addition to the clinic in Viimsi SPA, we are now operating in Viimsi Äritare where we have custom-built premises that take into account all the modern requirements and needs. The clinic also includes additional amenities for both employees and patients.

After a strenuous two-hour-long treatment procedure, the doctors can rest their eyes and admire the beauty and serenity of the Laidoner park. The patients can do the same in the waiting room to calm their nerves and relax.

Notification regarding the dental care benefit for adults

We ask for your understanding in regard to the fact that Lumen Dental Clinic does not consider it possible to enter into the agreement with the Estonian Health Insurance Fund (EHIF) for the provision of dental care for adults which will come into force on 1 July 2017, and according to which the dental clinic must provide the services to be compensated for at the maximum prices set by the EHIF.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide a high-quality and professional service at the maximum prices established by the EHIF.

We also rely on the position of the Estonian Dental Association (EDA) that the maximum prices established by the EHIF do not cover the actual costs associated with the provision of dental care services and do not enable the following:

  • the provision of high-quality treatment services using modern methods (sterility, disposable products, quality and long-lasting materials, modern dental equipment, modern diagnostic equipment, etc.);
  • the establishment of treatment facilities and clinics;
  • sustainable economic activity – in our case, the provision of dental care service;
  • the provision of reliable and quality service with professional and competent staff receiving continuous training.

Like all dental clinics established in the Republic of Estonia currently, Lumen Dental Clinic is a clinic established on private capital.

NB!   Dear all, you are always very welcome and we promise to treat you with the same care and dedication as we always have.  We are always here for you, whenever you need us. We appreciate your confidence in Lumen Dental Clinic.

We perform treatment according to the price list of the clinic.

However, we confirm that for the time being, dental care for children under the age of 19 will continue without change at Lumen Dental Clinic.
The existing procedure for the use of denture benefit for pensioners remains the same until 31 December 2017. However, the EHIF’s maximum prices for prosthetic services which will be established as of 1 January 2018 will terminate the well-functioning denture benefit system.

Patient satisfaction survey

Lumen Dental Clinic, in cooperation with Likemed, have created a patient satisfaction survey. In addition to the provision of professional services, it is very important for us to know what the patient felt and experienced during the appointment – what was good and what we could improve.

Participating in the survey is voluntary and answers are anonymous. All answers are coded and the identity of the respondent cannot be identified afterwards. You can fill in the survey using a web browser or smart device.

You can find the survey here.

Specialist visit fee for children

EHIF pays in full for the dental care for children under the age of 19.

As of 1 January 2016, the visiting fee for a EHIF-covered service with a medical specialist is 5 euros per visit.

Important!
If the patient terminates a contract for the provision of health services less than 24 hours before the time agreed upon for the provision of the health service or fails to appear at the place of performance of the contract by the time agreed for the provision of the service, the provider of the health service will have the right to charge a double visiting fee from the patient upon performance of the next contract for the health service (subsection 70 (6) of the Health Insurance Act).
